Summary: We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, hardworking, motivated and experienced Level 2b Teaching Assistant, with experience in SEND. They will join a well-established team of professionals, who are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are an all age Special School for pupils and students aged 2-19. We cater mainly for pupils with severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning needs. In addition we have a number of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and a small population of pupils with complex needs. We are a small school, with 120 pupils, but we pride ourselves in making a big impact on the lives of our children and their families. The ideal applicant will have had prior experience in supporting pupils with special needs in a special or mainstream setting, in addition to supporting general classroom duties.

The appointed person will be required to work either on an individual basis with pupils, or with small groups of pupils in the classroom, they will be expected to work in all areas of the school including swimming and therapy sessions. They will have a good sense of humour, be flexible and open minded and enjoy working in a busy school environment where no two days are the same. They will also be willing to work as part of a committed team, working to the very high standards that the school requires.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.

Desirable Qualifications: NVQ level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
Level 2 or equivalent qualification in
English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy

Essential Experience: Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age

Desirable Experience: Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment
Experience of Administrative work
Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
